PRGDA GDC 2026 SCHOLARSHIP
The Puerto Rico Game Developers Association (PRGDA), in collaboration with the LATAM Video Game Federation, is excited to announce the GDC 2026 Scholarship!
The goal is to allow our community to attend one of the most important gatherings in the video game industry, the Game Developers Conference (GDC). Attendees will gain valuable knowledge and connections that will allow them to grow professionally and share this knowledge with the rest of the community.
WHAT DOES THE SCHOLARSHIP COVER?
The GDC Scholarship covers the “Festival Pass” entrance to the event (a $1,200+ value)!
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
All applicants must be over 18 years old, residents of Puerto Rico, and identify as Puerto Rican.
In addition, they must be actively involved in or have a clear, proven interest in pursuing a career in the video games industry. This application only covers ticket entry for GDC 2026. Each applicant is responsible for travel expenses, lodging, food, etc.
Note: The PRGDA is exploring options for those who need financial assistance to travel. However, we cannot make any promises.
HOW DO I APPLY?
Please complete our online application form and add any required documents by January 19th. The PRGDA board will assess each application according to our criteria and choose 9 scholars.
The scholars will be announced on January 30th, 2026, after confirming their attendance through email! Make sure to check your emails (inbox and spam!)
WHAT IS OUR PROCESS OF CHOOSING?
Applicants fill out the form with general information, clear goals that help them and others professionally, and an updated portfolio and resume.
PRGDA reviews each form, prioritizing years of experience, vision, career development goals, diversity (women, LGBTQ, indies, students, etc.), and economic capacity to travel.
Send emails to chosen scholars and wait for confirmation. If the email is not confirmed, the pass will be given to runner-ups.
Once all scholars confirm, the announcement will be made on social media and Discord. A Discord channel will be created for the scholars to discuss planning and preparation.
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Half of the passes will be granted to underrepresented minorities (women, LGBTQ, neurodiverse, etc.)
One pass will be granted to one of our community members to act as a representative of the PRGDA (previous scholars are encouraged to apply!)
We encourage everyone to apply, so please do, even if you don't think you have "enough" experience.
If selected as one of our scholars, you must adhere to the following:
You will follow the terms and conditions presented in the form (“Code of Conduct” and “Liability Waiver”)
You will be responsible for your travel and stay expenses and must submit proof of purchase for the flight to San Francisco, CA.
You will attend our virtual meetings and orientations.
You will provide a day-by-day recap of your experience either via the social media platform(s) of your preference or the PR Game Devs Discord.
You will attend one of LATAM Video Game Federation’s gatherings at GDC.
You will fill out a post-event survey after your visit.
We are incredibly proud of our local game development community here in Puerto Rico, and we are thrilled to provide this opportunity once again to let them gain new connections and continue their professional development at GDC 2026!
If you or someone you know meets the eligibility requirements, please don’t hesitate to share this information and/or apply today!
